Queste quaranta missive che Nilde e Palmiro si erano scambiati nel corso di un anno, dal loro primo incontro avvenuto nel 1946 fino all’inizio della convivenza nell’abbaino di Botteghe Oscure nel 1947, che scandiscono la progressione della loro storia d’amore clandestina, costituiscono l’ossatura portante di questa documentata biografia di una figura rappresentativa del Novecento.
