L’Agenzia letteraria Studio Garamond propone l’intervista ad Anna Chiara De Stefani addetto ufficio stampa e organizzazione eventi presso la Marsilio Editori dal 2003. Specializzata nel campo della comunicazione, nel 2011 frequenta il master in ufficio stampa e media relations presso la Business School del Sole 24 ore, nel corso degli anni ha seguito altri corsi sull’ufficio stampa e comunicazione, tra cui la Scuola Holden di Torino.

Come nasce la voglia di fare l’addetto stampa, com’è strutturato il suo lavoro? Ci illustri brevemente la giornata tipo.
“Ho sempre avuto una passione per la lettura ho sempre sognato un lavoro che avesse a che fare con il mondo dell’editoria. A questa passione ho associato la mia predisposizione per le pubbliche relazioni, ed ecco qui, che sono finita a lavorare nell’ufficio stampa di una casa editrice. La giornata tipo comincia con la rassegna stampa dei principali giornali, prosegue con diverse telefonate ai vari autori e alle redazioni piuttosto che con alcune riunioni per organizzare la promozione dei titoli di prossima pubblicazione.”

Quali sono i compiti e le competenze principali per un responsabile della comunicazione in ambito editoriale?
“Il compito è quello di promuovere un libro in tutti i suoi aspetti nelle diverse forme di comunicazione esistenti, tramite i media tradizionali e tramite naturalmente le piattaforme digitali e social. È necessario essere degli ottimi comunicatori, con una buona dose di flessibilità e attenti a tutto quello che succede nel campo della cultura.”

Cos’è, per lei, l’editoria?
“È sicuramente uno degli ambienti più stimolanti e interessanti dove si possa lavorare.”

Autore e libro ideale?
“Ho amato libri diversi in momenti diversi. Il libro ideale è quello che mentre lo stai leggendo non vorresti mai che finisse ma non puoi fare a meno di continuare a leggerlo.”

C’è qualche autore con cui ha lavorato che ha rappresentato un punto di crescita nel suo percorso professionale?
“Ogni autore mi ha insegnato qualcosa, uno degli aspetti più interessanti del mondo dell’editoria è che hai quotidianamente a che fare con persone culturalmente stimolanti e molto eterogenee nel loro essere (più o meno) uomini di cultura.”

A quale libro del vostro catalogo è particolarmente legato e perché?
“Sono due: il catalogo della biennale di architettura NEXT, 2002, il mio primo lavoro come coordinatrice editoriale alla Marsilio Editori e la trilogia di Stieg Larsson, un caso editoriale mondiale, che ha avuto un incredibile seguito sui media e di conseguenza mi ha regalato un sacco di opportunità di crescita.”

Quali strumenti deve mettere in atto un ufficio stampa affinché lo scrittore e il volume possano ritagliarsi nel mercato uno spazio adeguato?
“Ogni libro ha un suo carattere e un suo percorso. Le strategie di marketing non possono essere spiegate con un’unica strategia, l’importante per ciascun titolo è conoscere bene quali sono le potenzialità e le caratteristiche che possano “far notizia” e sapere poi a quali referenti indirizzarsi. Sicuramente poi la qualità di un testo fa la differenza.”

Cartaceo e/o eBook: come è cambiato il lavoro di comunicazione con la diffusione del digitale in relazione ai rapporti con la stampa?
“In Italia i libri in formato digitale stanno prendendo piede in maniera lenta ma costante. Ad oggi però la maggior parte dei giornalisti lavorano ancora su supporto cartaceo.”

Quali sono le caratteristiche fondamentali per un evento editoriale di successo?
“Anche in questo caso le variabili per cui un evento possa essere di successo sono numerosissime, sicuramente gli aspetti fondamentali da tener presente sono la location (facile da raggiungere e abbastanza conosciuta), i relatori (famosi ma non troppo da oscurare l’autore), la giusta tempistica nell’annunciare l’evento (non troppo in anticipo, ma neanche a ridosso della data, soprattutto in città come Roma, Milano, Napoli e Firenze), e il coinvolgimento dell’autore.”

Ci indichi, brevemente, come avviene un lancio stampa di una vostra novità editoriale.
“Una volta annunciato il titolo alla rete di vendita si fa un brief con l’ufficio editoriale per capire quali sono i focus su cui puntare. Si redige un comunicato stampa che viene mandato con il giusto anticipo alle testate e si stampano delle bozze che vengono inviate ad alcuni giornalisti selezionati. Una volta uscito il libro si organizzano una o più presentazioni in giro per l’Italia. A questo si affianca un lavoro prettamente di marketing e commerciale che sostiene il lavoro della stampa.”
